GORDON TAYLOR: THE DOCTRINES OF SOVEREIGN GRACE IN SWITZERLAND, FRANCE & ITALY

.
MP3 Available Here

GORDON TAYLOR, Coordinator for ARBCA ("Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America"), will address the theme: "THE DOCTRINES OF SOVEREIGN GRACE IN SWITZERLAND, FRANCE & ITALY".

Today our guest will give an update on the spread of the Doctrines of Sovereign Grace primarily through the ministries of Pastor Olivier Favre, a national pastor in Payerne, Switzerland, Missionary David Vaughn who labors in Grenoble, France, and Leonardo DeChirico, the pastor of a Reformed Baptist Church in Ferrara, Italy.

The ASSOCIATION OF REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCHES OF AMERICA was founded on March 11, 1997. On that day the first General Assembly met to establish a charter membership of 24 churches from 14 states. Since then they have grown to 60 churches and continue to expand by the providence of God.

Their association is recent, but their churches have been established many years in their communities and share a rich heritage that extends back to the Reformation.

Jesus prayed in John 17 for His disciples to be brought to complete unity so that the world would know that the Father sent Him. The ASSOCIATION OF REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCHES OF AMERICA (ARBCA) is designed to advance Christ's kingdom by providing a fellowship in which churches of common confession may find mutual encouragement, assistance, edification, and counsel, and participate in cooperative efforts such home and foreign missions, ministerial training, and publications, along with other such endeavors deemed appropriate by the Association.

There are many large cities and towns without a Reformed Baptist church. A number of churches are desirous of planting churches in these desperately needy areas. What one church cannot do, many working together can. ARBCA can assist local churches with their church planting efforts. ARBCA can also help churches seeking pastors and pastors seeking churches.

Reformed Baptists have a distinct theology and practice. Because of this, the Association plans to develop its publishing house to meet the printing needs for Christ-centered, church-centered, and covenantally Baptistic literature.

ARBCA can provide an organized forum of godly men, each holding to the same confession of faith, to help churches work through various difficulties together. As needed, it can also serve the interest of individual church members whenever "any member of any church is injured, in or by any proceedings in censures not agreeable to truth and order. . ." (London Baptist Confession, 26:15).

Today, our guest will address how Modern Evangelicalism has largely departed from the Biblical truths for which our Protestant forefathers risked their lives and often endured torture and death. Some main issues to be discussed are the modern church's abandonment of:

-Biblical theology
-Biblical worship
-Biblical preaching
-A Biblical concept of God
-A Biblical concept of man
-A Biblical concept of the church

A fourth generation Californian, Kim is a graduate of California State University Fullerton (B.A.), Simon Greenleaf University (M.A.), Westminster Seminary California (M.A.R.), and Fuller Theological Seminary (Ph.D.) where he worked under Richard A. Muller.

Kim has served as a visiting lecturer in the graduate program in Reformation studies at Concordia University in Irvine, CA, and was the chairman of the Growing Reformed Churches Conference, cosponsored by First Chino URC and Westminster Seminary California, where he served as a member of the board of trustees. JUSTIN PETERS: THE WORD OF FAITH MOVEMENT EXPOSED by a Minister with Cerebral Palsy

.
MP3 Available Here

JUSTIN PETERS, an ordained Baptist minister, evangelist & conference speaker, will address the theme: "THE WORD OF FAITH MOVEMENT EXPOSED by a Minister with Cerebral Palsy."

Justin Peters is a staff evangelist at
First Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi . Justin created Justin Peters Ministries to fulfill God's call on his life of full-time ministry.

The influence of two loving Christian parents coupled with the challenges of Cerebral Palsy led Justin to begin inquiring about salvation at an early age. Shortly after a visit with his then pastor, Dr. John G. McCall, God graciously saved Justin at age seven. God's call on Justin's life to vocational ministry came in November 1995 while attending
Mississippi State University .

Throughout his years as a student at
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, Justin studied at great depth the Word of Faith movement. The thesis he wrote for his Master’s of Theology (Th.M.) degree is entitled "An Examination and Critique of the Life, Ministry and Theology of Healing evangelist Benny Hinn".

In addition to his academic research, Justin also has attended numerous Benny Hinn crusades and has been witness first hand to the harm, both physical and spiritual, that the Word of Faith movement inflicts upon so many. As a teenager, Justin himself attended faith-healing services in hopes of being delivered from his Cerebral Palsy. Though the potential was there to shake his faith in the Lord, in the long run, these experiences had the opposite effect. Says Justin:

"Some have made the charge against me that I am just bitter about not being healed. I can assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. Next to my salvation, my Cerebral Palsy is one of the greatest gifts (an imperfect word to be sure) God has ever allowed me to have. He has used it to keep me dependent upon Him and through it has shown me His 'sufficient grace' and “strength made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9)

In 2004, Justin was featured as an expert witness for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s documentary on Benny Hinn entitled "
Do You Believe In Miracles?".

In 2006 Justin was interviewed for the documentary entitled "Suffer the Children" produced by Trevor Glass. This documentary shows the profound harm, both physical and spiritual, that the Prosperity gospel inflicts upon so many.

In addition to expository preaching, another aspect of Justin's ministry is the three session seminar which he has developed entitled "A CALL FOR DISCERNMENT: A BIBLICAL CRITIQUE OF THE WORD OF FAITH MOVEMENT". This seminar is a fair, comprehensive, biblical critique of the modern Word of Faith movement. Word of Faith theology (WoF) dominates Christian satellite and cable television and is making alarming inroads into our Baptist churches. This seminar contains dozens of audio and video clips (primarily the latter) of various WoF leaders such as Benny Hinn, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Jessie Duplantis, Creflo Dollar, etc. incorporated into a PowerPoint format. This format allows people to see and hear for themselves what these individuals are actually teaching. Everything then is, in turn, balanced with Scripture.

This seminar is being conducted at
CENTEREACH BIBLE CHURCH on Long Island June 19-21, 2009. PASTOR SCOTT KRANIAK of Centereach Bible Church is co-hosting today's broadcast.

DAVID ZAHL: REDISCOVERING ANGLICANISM's REFORMATION HERITAGE

.
MP3 Available Here

DAVID ZAHL, Executive Director of Mockingbird Ministries , will address the theme: "REDISCOVERING ANGLICANISM's REFORMATION HERITAGE".

Mockingbird Ministries is a group of predominantly Reformational Anglicans, heavily influenced by the teachings of Thomas Cranmer and Martin Luther. A big part of their genesis had to do with the conviction that many of the important insights of the Reformation (and the Gospel in general) were being lost on the current generation. During this broadcast we will also promote
Mockingbird's conference to be held this Thursday through Saturday, March 26th - 28th, at the Parish of Calvary-Saint George in New York City.

David Zahl received his BA from
Georgetown University in 2001. He then worked for five years as a youth minister with FOCUS (Fellowship Of Christians in Universities and Schools) in the New England boarding schools, leaving to start Mockingbird Ministries in mid-2007. Their blog site is mockingbirdnyc.blogspot.com.

David is the son of noted conservative Evangelical Protestant Anglican scholar Dr. Paul F. M. Zahl, author of "
The Protestant Face of Anglicanism".

MIKE HORTON:CHRISTLESS CHRISTIANITY: The Alternative Gospel of the American Church

.
MP3 Available Here

MIKE HORTON, author and co-host of "THE WHITE HORSE INN", will address the theme of his provocative, controversial new book: "CHRISTLESS CHRISTIANITY: The Alternative Gospel of the American Church".

According to the "Christless Christianity" web site: "Christians have always had their differences, but never in church history have there been so many statistics indicating that many Christians today are practicing what can only be described as "Christless Christianity."

Christless Christianity guides the reader to a greater understanding of a big problem within the American religious setting, namely the creeping fog of countless sermons in churches across the country that focus on moralistic concerns and personal transformation rather than the theology of the cross.

Michael Horton's analysis of the contemporary church points believers back to the power of a gospel that should never be assumed.

"Horton has ably helped us see the train wreck that is some much of popular Christianity...A more important and timely volume could not have been written."-Thabiti M. Anyabwile, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church of Grand Cayman

"His wide ranging carefully researched examples show how our churches and megachurches have pandered to the culture with...moralistic and self-help heresies bereft of the saving action of Jesus Christ." -Rt.Rev. Christopher FitzSimons Allison, Episcopal Bishop

The Rev. Dr. Michael S. Horton is the J. Gresham Machen professor of systematic theology at Westminster Seminary California . He is the main host of " The White Horse Inn" radio broadcast and editor-in-chief of Modern Reformation magazine . He received his M.A. from Westminster Seminary California, his Ph.D. from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford and the University of Coventry , and also completed a research fellowship at Yale University Divinity School .

Dr. Horton is author of more than 20 books, including Putting Amazing Back Into Grace, A Better Way: Rediscovering the Drama of God-Centered Worship, The Law of Perfect Freedom, Made in America, Where in the World is the Church, We Believe: Recovering the Essentials of the Apostle's Creed, Covenant and Eschatology, Lord and Servant, Covenant and Salvation, People and Place (forthcoming September 2008), God of Promise: Introducing Covenant Theology, Too Good to be True: Finding Hope in a World of Hype and many others (
see a list of Dr. Horton's books here).

Dr. Horton is a minister in the United Reformed Churches of North America . He has served two churches in southern California and currently resides with his wife, Lisa and four children in Escondido, California.

co-hosting the program will be AL STEIN Pastor of the Neighborhood Assembly of God church, Bellmore, NY, and Drew Eenigenburg, Interim Pastor at West Sayville Reformed Bible Church (URCNA) on Long Island.

MARK DEVER: NINE MARKS OF A HEALTHY CHURCH

.
MP3 Available Here

MARK DEVER, senior pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., will discuss the theme of his increasingly popular book: "NINE MARKS OF A HEALTHY CHURCH".

What makes for a healthy church? A large congregation? Plentiful parking? Vibrant music? According to our guest, "The local church is the focal point of God's plan for displaying his glory to the nations. Our vision is simple: Churches that reflect the character of God. Our mission is to cultivate and encourage churches characterized by these nine marks:

1. Expositional Preaching

This is preaching which expounds what Scripture says in a particular passage, carefully explaining its meaning and applying it to the congregation. It is a commitment to hearing God’s Word and to recovering the centrality of it in our worship.

2. Biblical Theology

Paul charges Titus to "teach what is in accord with sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1). Our concern should be not only with how we are taught, but with what we are taught. Biblical theology is a commitment to know the God of the Bible as He has revealed Himself in Scripture.

3. Biblical Understanding of the Good News

The gospel is the heart of Christianity. But the good news is not that God wants to meet people's felt needs or help them develop a healthier self-image. We have sinfully rebelled against our Creator and Judge. Yet He has graciously sent His Son to die the death we deserved for our sin, and He has credited Christ's acquittal to those who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus' death and resurrection. That is the good news.

4. Biblical Understanding of Conversion

The spiritual change each person needs is so radical, so near the root of us, that only God can do it. We need God to convert us. Conversion need not be an emotionally heated experience, but it must evidence itself in godly fruit if it is to be what the Bible regards as a true conversion.

5. Biblical Understanding of Evangelism

How someone shares the gospel is closely related to how he understands the gospel. To present it as an additive that gives non-Christians something they naturally want (i.e. joy or peace) is to present a half-truth, which elicits false conversions. The whole truth is that our deepest need is spiritual life, and that new life only comes by repenting of our sins and believing in Jesus. We present the gospel openly, and leave the converting to God.

6. Biblical Understanding of Membership

Membership should reflect a living commitment to a local church in attendance, giving, prayer and service; otherwise it is meaningless, worthless, and even dangerous. We should not allow people to keep their membership in our churches for sentimental reasons or lack of attention. To be a member is knowingly to be traveling together as aliens and strangers in this world as we head to our heavenly home.

7. Biblical Church Discipline

Church discipline gives parameters to church membership. The idea seems negative to people today – “didn’t our Lord forbid judging?” But if we cannot say how a Christian should not live, how can we say how he or she should live? Each local church actually has a biblical responsibility to judge the life and teaching of its leaders, and even of its members, particularly insofar as either could compromise the church’s witness to the gospel.

8. Promotion of Christian Discipleship and Growth

A pervasive concern with church growth exists today – not simply with growing numbers, but with growing members. Though many Christians measure other things, the only certain observable sign of growth is a life of increasing holiness, rooted in Christian self-denial. These concepts are nearly extinct in the modern church. Recovering true discipleship for today would build the church and promote a clearer witness to the world.

9. Biblical Understanding of Leadership

What eighteenth-century Baptists and Presbyterians often agreed upon was that there should be a plurality of elders in each local church. This plurality of elders is not only biblical, but practical — it has the immense benefit of rounding out the pastor’s gifts to ensure the proper shepherding of God’s church.

Dr. Dever believes "In identifying and promoting these nine marks, we are not intending to lay down an exhaustive or authoritative list. There are other significant marks of healthy churches, like prayer and fellowship. We want to pursue those ourselves as well, and we want you to pursue them with us. But these nine are the ones we think are most neglected in most local churches today, with the most damaging ramifications. Join us in cultivating churches that reflect the character of God."

Here is what some prominent Christian leaders are saying about "Nine Marks of a Healthy Church":

“If you are a Christian leader, be careful of the work you are now holding in your hand: it may change your life and ministry.” — D.A. CARSON Research Professor of New Testament, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School

“This is a foundational work which I highly recommend.” — JOHN MACARTHUR
Pastor-Teacher

“I want God’s word about the church. I turn with hope and confidence to Mark Dever’s radically biblical commitment. Few people today have thought more or better about what makes a church biblical and healthy.” — JOHN PIPER Pastor for Preaching, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis

“This is the best book I have read on this topic of critical importance.” — C.J. MAHANEY
Sovereign Grace Ministries

“Nine Marks of a Healthy Church is required reading for my students in ecclesiology.”
— PAIGE PATTERSON President, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

“[This book] belongs in the hands of every faithful pastor and all those who pray for reformation in this age.” — R. ALBERT MOHLER, JR. President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
“Nine Marks of a Healthy Church is a biblical prescription for faithfulness.” — J. LIGON DUNCAN III Senior Minister, First Presbyterian Church, Jackson MS

Dr. Mark Dever is a
Duke graduate , and holds a M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary , a Th.M. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary ) and a Ph.D. in Ecclesiastical History from Cambridge University . He is the president of 9Marks and has taught at a number of seminaries. Dr. Dever has also authored several books and articles (see a list of his publications here. RICHARD BENNETT: SAINT PATRICK: The Man Behind the Myth

.
MP3 Available Here

RICHARD BENNETT, a native of Ireland and a former Roman Catholic priest for over 20 years who is now a believer in the Gospel of Free and Sovereign Grace and a Bible-believing Christian apologist, author and popular conference speaker, will address the theme: "SAINT PATRICK: The Man Behind the Myth".

Ireland has a very distinctive history. It was an island untouched by the Roman legions, and Patrick, the Evangelist, brought to it the Gospel of grace. Patrick was himself descended from a family that had been, for two generations at least, in Christ Jesus. His father, he tells us was “the deacon Calpurnius, son of the late Potitus, a presbyter, of the settlement of Ban*naven Tab*ur*niae.” These facts are recorded in Patrick’s own testimony of faith. This authentic document is preserved in five manuscripts. This authenticated document is the main source of both the person and the mission of Patrick, and also his clear statement of the Gospel of grace.

Patrick was born in the year 373 in a town on the River Clyde in Roman Britain, now a part of Scotland. When he was sixteen years old, Patrick was captured by a band of pirates who sold him to a chieftain in what is now county Antrim in Northern Ireland. For six years he tended flocks. In his testimony he tells us, “I was taken captive before I knew what I should desire and what I should shun.” It was during the time of his captivity that he turned from his careless ways and came to a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus. He was convicted that he was a sinner. In his own words,

“before I was humbled I was like a stone lying in deep mire, and He that is mighty came and in His mercy raised me up and, indeed, lifted me high up and placed me on top of the wall. And from there I ought to shout out in gratitude to the Lord for His great favours in this world and for ever, that the mind of man cannot measure.”

Patrick, like so many of the godly men of history, found God’s favor in the riches of the grace of Christ. This was the theme echoing throughout the testimony of Patrick, in his own words “I am greatly God’s debtor, because he granted me so much grace.”

He then grew in the grace of God. Having believed on “the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth,” he directly received “of his fullness…grace for grace.” In his own words,

“More and more did the love of God, and my fear of Him and faith increase, and my spirit was moved so that in a day [I said] from one up to a hundred prayers, and in the night a like number; besides I used to stay out in the forests and on the mountain and I would wake up before daylight to pray in the snow, in icy coldness, in rain, and I used to feel neither ill nor any slothfulness, because, , as I now see, the Spirit was burning in me at that time.”

Patrick knew himself as a sinner and found salvation where only sinners find it, “in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The first words of his testimony read, “I, Patrick, a sinner, a most simple countryman, the least of all the faithful and most contemptible to many.”

Likewise, in the beginning of his letter to Coroticus he states, “I, Patrick, a sinner, unlearned, resident in Ireland”.

Quite clearly Patrick saw himself as a sinner. He did not look to some spark of life from within himself or to some ritual; rather, he looked unto Christ Jesus. Patrick’s words: “unspeakable glory of life everlasting which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” shows his distinct and personal comfort and courage in Christ.

Totally unlike religion that looks to rituals, Patrick had his eyes set on the Lord. Patrick saw himself only as a sinner saved by grace in Christ Jesus. Patrick’s message is that salvation is totally in Christ alone--a message utterly diverse from that of Roman Catholicism then and now.

Listen to today's fascinating interview with former Roman Catholic priest Richard Bennett as he reveals the true history and legacy of the one we now call "Saint Patrick", and how he brought the Gospel of Free Grace to the Irish people.

Richard Bennett hails from Ireland, where he was trained by Jesuits in his early years. He then received eight years of theological instruction and preparation for the priesthood with the Dominicans, completing his education at the Angelicum University in Rome in 1964. He spent twenty-one years as a Roman Catholic parish priest in Trinidad W. I. He had, therefore, the best of academic training in things Catholic, plus twenty-one years of being a parish priest applying Catholic teachings to everyday life. After a serious accident in 1972, in which he nearly lost his life, he began to study seriously the Bible. After fourteen years of contrasting Catholicism to Biblical truth, he was convicted by the Gospel message in 1986. He was then saved by God’s grace alone, and formally left the Roman Catholic Church and its priesthood. He has founded an evangelistic ministry to Catholics called “Berean Beacon” (
http://www.bereanbeacon.org/).

JERRY BRIDGES, best selling author and highly sought-after conference speaker, will address the theme of his book "RESPECTABLE SINS: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate".

Have Christians become so preoccupied with "major" sins that we have lost sight of our need to deal with more subtle sins?

Jerry Bridges addresses the “acceptable” sins that we tend to tolerate in ourselves, including pride and anger, and offers a message of hope in the profound mercy of the gospel and the transforming grace of God as the means to overcoming our subtle sins.

Dr. J. Ligon Duncan of Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS, said of this book:

"Jerry Bridges has blessed us with this timely book designed to help us grow in grace and glorify and enjoy God as we ought. I cannot think of any partner with whose help I'd rather tackle my own heart sins than Jerry."

BURK PARSONS: JOHN CALVIN: A Heart for Devotion, Doctrine & Doxology

.
MP3 Available Here

BURK PARSONS, co-pastor with Dr. R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrew’s Chapel, in Sanford, Florida, where he serves as minister of congregational life, and the editor of Tabletalk, the monthly Bible-study magazine of Ligonier Ministries (see http://www.ligonier.org/tt.php), will address the theme of the latest book he edited: "JOHN CALVIN: A Heart for Devotion, Doctrine & Doxology".

As the Ligonier Ministries web site puts it: "John Calvin is often reviled as a humorless doctrinarian who preached an austere theology that twisted Scripture. In John Calvin: A Heart for Devotion, Doctrine, and Doxology, Burk Parsons and a cadre of godly pastors and scholars seek to set the record straight in honor of the 500th observance of John Calvin’s birth in 1509. The book’s nineteen succinct chapters explore aspects of Calvin’s life, ministry, and teachings, and establish his importance even for the twenty-first-century church. Contributors, in addition to Parsons, include some of the most gifted and godly Reformed leaders alive today: Derek W. H. Thomas, Sinclair B. Ferguson, D. G. Hart, Harry L. Reeder, Steven J. Lawson, W. Robert Godfrey, Phillip R. Johnson, Eric J. Alexander, Thabiti Anyabwile, John MacArthur, Richard D. Phillips, Thomas K. Ascol, Keith A. Mathison, Jay E. Adams, Philip Graham Ryken, Michael Horton, Jerry Bridges, and Joel R. Beeke. The foreword is by Iain H. Murray. Indexes of Scripture passages, subjects and names, and theological terms make the book helpful for those who want to delve into specific topics. John Calvin: A Heart for Devotion, Doctrine, and Doxology is a winsome portrait that dashes stereotypes about Calvin and the theological system that bears his name."

Burk Parsons holds a degree in biblical studies from Trinity College and the master of divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary . He is also the editor of "Assured By God: Living in the Fullness of God’s Grace" published by Presbyterian and Reformed Publishers . He and his wife Amber live in Longwood, Florida, with their children.

DEE DEE WARREN, co-owner of TheologyWeb.com , contributor to The Preterist Blog and operator of The Preterist Site , will address the theme: "HYPER-PRETERISM: The Resurrection of an Ancient Heresy".

Hyper-Preterism, among other things, denies a future, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ, and a future resurrection of the dead. Our guest Dee Dee Warren was a hyper-preterist for a brief time in 1998/1999 which nearly wrecked her faith and devastated her emotionally. After she came out of that through the assistance of Pastor Chori Seraiah, she became actively involved in refuting this heresy and providing resources for people who are being lured off the cliff. At the time Dee Dee started this work, she was the only person doing this kind of work regularly and consistently. Her podast is available here:

TEDD TRIPP: CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: Its Importance in Shepherding a Child's Heart

.
MP3 Available Here

TEDD TRIPP, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Hazelton, PA, and author of "Shepherding a Child's Heart" and the recently published companion book "Instructing a Child's Heart", which he wrote with his wife Margy, will address the theme: "CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: Its Importance in Shepherding a Child's Heart".

"Shepherding a Child's Heart" is about how to speak to the heart of your child. Bringing deep biblical principals to the task of parenting and concentrating on what is going on inside a child rather than just their outside behavior. "Instructing a Child's Heart" is essential to "Shepherding a Child's Heart". Children interpret their experiences from a worldview that seeks to answer their fundamental questions: Who am I? What do I exist for? Where can I find joy? The instruction you provide for them not only informs their minds; it persuades their hearts of the wisdom and truth of God's ways.

Tedd & Margy Tripp have three adult children and seven grand-children. Tedd is a graduate of Geneva College, BA in History, Philadelphia Theological Seminary, M Div, and Westminster Theological Seminary, D Min with an emphasis in Pastoral Counseling. Tedd and Margy founded
Immanuel Christian School in 1979 where Tedd has served as a teacher and administrator. Tedd and Margy still serve on the board of ICS. Since 1994, Tedd has maintained an extensive ministry as a conference speaker and presenter of Shepherding a Child's Heart seminars.

Today's broadcast will be co-hosted by RICHARD JENSEN, headmaster of
Grace Christian Academy in Merrick, Long Island, NY and pastor of Hope Reformed Baptist Church in Medford, Long Island, NY.

"Shepherding a Child's Heart" and "Instructing a Child's Heart" are each also available in audio books (see

DAVID WOOD: MUSLIM & CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS Compared & Contrasted

.
MP3 Available Here

DAVID WOOD, Evangelical Christian apologist to the Muslims, will address the theme: "MUSLIM & CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS Compared & Contrasted".

David has become fondly known as "Iron Sharpens Iron's Resident Apologist to the Muslims". During this broadcast, he will demonstrate how 3 primary, stark contrasts exist between the way Muslim apologists defend Islam and the way Christian apologists defend the faith of the Old and New Testaments:

  • Muslims must be inconsistent when debating Christians, while Christians can be completely consistent;

  • Muslims must use circular reasoning when debating Christians, while Christians can completely avoid circular reasoning;

  • Muslims have no firm foundation for the Islamic faith, while Christians have a demonstrably firm foundation for Christianity.

David Wood is a Teaching Fellow in Philosophy at Fordham University . A former atheist, David converted to Christianity based on the historical evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus. David now debates both atheists and Muslims and is co-director of Acts 17 Apologetics Ministries, an organization he founded with Nabeel Qureshi, a convert from Islam to Christianity. David also contributes to http://www.answering-islam.org/, which he considers to be the very best resource available anywhere, bar none, to discover and learn the true history and teachings of Islam. He personally operates the blog site http://www.answeringmuslims.com/.

David's ministry comes very highly recommended by frequent "Iron Sharpens Iron" guest, renowned Christian apologist and biblical scholar Dr. James R. White of Alpha & Omega Ministries (see
http://www.aomin.org/).

RICHARD BENNETT: VATICAN CONTROL THROUGH CIVIL LAW

.
MP3 Available Here

RICHARD BENNETT, a former Roman Catholic priest for over 20 years who is now a theologically Reformed Christian apologist, author and popular conference speaker, will address the theme: "VATICAN CONTROL THROUGH CIVIL LAW".

According to Richard Bennett: "Control of civil law and law among European nations is what the Catholic Church thrived on through the Dark and the Middle Ages. This control was the primary underpinning of her power during the six hundred years of the Inquisition and in the growth of her religious power system generally throughout the centuries. Her ability to grow in strength and numbers is always in proportion to her legal agreements with any nation. In the nations where she has legal concordats with the civil governments, she succeeds both in holding down the Gospel and in simultaneously furthering her position as keeper of the ubiquitous, highly sensuous, and most effective sacramental system known to modern man."

Bennett believes things have changed only slightly. He states that the Vatican continues to exercise control by civil law. He has just returned from London where he met Jan Sichula and Ivan Hlavanda from Slovakia. They spoke to him about the effects of a civil agreement the Vatican and Slovakia has had since the year 2,000. Bennett's ministry, Berean Beacon, made a DVD on this situation as more and more pressure is brought to bear on Christians in Slovakia through Slovakian civil law.
