Guest: John M. Otis, Pastor of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church (RPCUS) in Burlington, NC. Although our guest tonight agrees with last night's guest, Martin G. Selbrede, on his theonomic convictions, he, unlike Mr. Selbrede, is a Preterist Postmillennialist.
From January 4 to 8, 2010, Pastor Otis conducted 27 hours of lectures for Christ Theological Seminary on the subject: "Kingdom, Church, and Eschatology." These 27 hours of videoed lectures (utilizing a power point presentation) will soon be made available for free viewing on Pastor Otis' publishing website, www.triumphantpublications.com.

John Otis: Unveiling Freemasonry's Idolatry... Plus a review of Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol
.
MP3 Available Here
John Otis, who just recently accepted the call to the pastorate of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church (RPCUS) in Burlington, NC, will address the theme of his new book: "Unveiling Freemasonry's Idolatry... Plus a review of Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol'".
This work, which grew from 350 pages to nearly 700 pages, is now finally in print , and is considered to be the most extensively researched and the most comprehensive treatment of Freemasonry by a Christian author.
While Pastor Otis was a member of the Presbyterian Church in America denomination (see www.PCANet.org), he spearheaded a PCA General Assembly study committee from 1986-87 that was appointed to determine whether the tenents of Freemasonry violated Scripture. In 1987 the PCA General Assembly agreed with their findings that it was incompatible with the Christian religion.
Having finished Dan Brown's book, 'The Lost Symbol', Pastor Otis believes it is noteworthy that Brown has captured the essence of Masonic ritual- the perfection of man's being, the recognition that he is divine. Masonry touts the Gnostic, neo-platonic belief that man has two natures. His divine nature and his earthly nature. The goal of Masonry is that through Masonic light, man's divine nature gains precedence over his earthly passions.
During this interview Pastor Otis will seek to answer such questions as "What are the historical foundations of Freemasonry?", "Why is it a cult?", "What is the nature of the ghastly oaths required in the Lodge?", "What is the Masonic Secrecy all about?", "Were some American Presidents members of the Lodge?", "Why Jesus Christ is forbidden to be mentioned in the Lodge?", "What should church leaders do with members who are in the Lodge?"...and more!
Providentially, without our foreknowledge, this interview is being aired one day prior to NBC Television's rare and exclusive interview with Dan Brown on his book (see http://insidedateline.msnbc.msn.com/).

From the ISI Archive Vault: "FEDERAL VISION"
MP3 Avaliable Here
Here's an early ISI broadcast that was recorded before we began archiving the show. The recording isn't of the same superior sound quality, but it is audible nonetheless.
The topic of this broadcast was "Federal Vision" theology. It was supposed to be a debate between John Otis and Steve Schlissel. Unfortunately, Steve Schlissel (arguing for Federal Vision theology) was delayed in New York traffic, and arrived for the broadcast at least a half hour late. This gave John Otis an opportunity to outline Federal Vision theology and explain its dangers. Once Steve showed up, the discussion quickly took off.
John Otis explains,
"On the live radio show, 'Iron Sharpening Iron', originating out of New York City, I was scheduled to debate Federal Vision representative Steve Schlissel on various theological issues associated with this viewpoint that I believe to be heretical. Both of us had been on the radio show earlier on separate occasions. There will be a second debate since he was late arriving to this show."

PASTOR JOHN M. OTIS: "Glorifying God With Your Wealth"
MP3 Available Here

PASTOR JOHN M. OTIS of Westminster Presbyterian Church (RPCUS) in Corpus Christi, Texas, will address the theme of his book, Glorifying God With Your Wealth.
Should Christians be wealthy, or is it more godly to be poor? What does the Bible really say about wealth? In Glorifying God With Your Wealth, pastor John M. Otis sets forth eleven biblical principles that should regulate a Christian’s view of wealth. Foremost, God is the source of all wealth accumulation. The Christian is simply a steward of God’s wealth that is given to the believer for his enjoyment and for the believer’s ministry to the needy of society and for the extension of God’s kingdom in this world.
The Bible does teach that wisdom is greater than riches, but it also teaches that wisdom combined with riches is even more powerful. Together they can change the world. Are there dangers associated with wealth? Absolutely. In this helpful book, pastor Otis enables us to navigate through those dangerous areas, leading us to a more productive Christian life.
I Timothy 6:17-19 contains a special exhortation to the rich of this world. They can use their material wealth through their generosity to lay up lasting treasures in Heaven.
This book isolates the eleven Biblical principles of wealth accumulation, found in "The Bible, Wealth, and Network Marketing."

ARMY SPECIALIST BRIAN OTIS & PASTOR JOHN M. OTIS: "DELIVERED BY ANGELS: GOD's Providence For An American Soldier in Iraq "
MP3 Available Here
ARMY SPECIALIST BRIAN OTIS & PASTOR JOHN M. OTIS will address the theme of their new book DELIVERED BY ANGELS: GOD's Providence For An American Soldier in Iraq . The book chronicles Brian's year long deployment to Iraq, May 2005-May 2006, during which he truly walked through the valley of the shadow of death on numerous occasions. From a human perspective, Brian should have died several times, but God's mercy and grace were wonderfully displayed towards him. This book demonstrates the personal struggles and challenges that Brian faced as a Christian soldier, dealing with the loss of friends, the prospects of his own death, and the pain of having to kill the enemy. Rarely does the public have the opportunity to look into the soul of a Christian soldier during combat. The book also chronicles life on the home front for Brian's parents as they had to deal with a son in a dangerous war zone. Brian's father, John M. Otis, is a Presbyterian minister (RPCUS) in Corpus Christi, Texas . Numerous times John would send lengthy emails, seeking to encourage his son from God's Word to remain faithful as a Christian witness and to trust in his God to see him through the challenges. Delivered By Angels: God's Providence For An American Soldier in Iraq is must reading for those who want to be inspired with the great truth that God loves His children and will do amazing things on their behalf.

PASTOR JOHN M. OTIS: UPDATE on "AN INNOCENT MOTHER FACES LIFE IN PRISON! The Hannah Overton Story".
Today Chris Arnzen and Pastor Claude Stauffer of Calvary Chapel of Hope in North Amityville, Long Island, NY will interview PASTOR JOHN M. OTIS of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas for updates on the legal travesty regarding the HANNAH OVERTON case (see http://www.freehannah.com/). Hannah is a member of Calvary Chapel Coastlands in Corpus Christi, Texas.
A very gentle and loving mother of 5 was sentenced on September 12, 2007, for failing to act or provide medical attention for her son, whom, unknown to her, had ingested something that would ultimately kill him. Nine months of CPS investigation could not find her guilty of child abuse. Ten months of the DA’s investigation and 8 days of testimony could not convince the jury that she purposely poisoned this little boy... Now five children are without a mother... (Excerpted from this website ).
According to our guest, Pastor John M. Otis, "It is my opinion together with a group of local pastors in Corpus Christi that Hannah Overton is the victim of a judicial system gone awry in our city. Various local pastors have expressed great consternation over this jury verdict, and they are determined within a godly framework to bring public awareness to this travesty of justice on a national scale. The consensus of these Bible believing pastors is that this event is revealing some serious problems in our city’s legal system and that Satan is viciously attacking the Christian community. The District Attorney’s office was determined to paint Hannah as some kind of sinister, religious sociopath. For months the local media was being fed slanted information, stirring very negative public sentiments against her. One only had to read the blog site set up by the local newspaper regarding the case to see the public animosity. In many ways, she was tried and convicted in the media, which obviously was not privy to all the facts. Presently, the public is virtually unaware of the facts of the case.
A website, http://www.freehannah.com/, has been created by friends in her church, Calvary Chapel Coastlands, to inform the public of this injustice and to rally national support for an overturning of this verdict in upcoming appellate courts. In the meantime, this Christian mother sits in jail with a life sentence without parole! Sometime in mid January (2008) her husband, Larry Overton, is scheduled to be tried for the same offense, and it is conceivable that he too will be given a life sentence without parole, leaving five young children to be permanently without their parents. Once one learns about some of the details of the case, the godly reaction is one of righteous anger.
Please Pray
