Mark Allison: Harold Camping Still Defiant
.MP3 Available Here
Mark Allison, Minister at the Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern, PA, and adjunct professor of Theology and Pastoral Theology at Geneva Reformed Seminary in Greenville, SC, will address the theme: "Harold Camping Still Defiant".
Prior to last Saturday, Harold Camping, president of Family Radio, established in 1958 under its official name: Family Stations Inc. (http://www.familyradio.com/), proclaimed "THE END OF THE WORLD IS ALMOST HERE! HOLY GOD WILL BRING JUDGMENT DAY ON MAY 21, 2011." That prediction obviously proved to be false. This is the second failed prediction regarding Judgment Day and the end of the world Mr. Camping has made, the first date predicted being 1994. He now claims that Judgment Day did begin last Saturday but only in a spiritual sense, and that the world will be destroyed physically this October: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13517496.
Since Mr. Camping has become globally known through Family Radio's worldwide broadcast facilities, including more than 150 outlets in the United States alone, in addition to Family Radio's mission trips and tract distribution, "Iron Sharpens Iron" believes his claims must be publicly examined in the light of Holy Scripture.
The Free Presbyterian Church of Malvern, PA, where tonight's guest Dr. Mark Allison serves as Minister, has a history connected with Family Radio. FPC of Malvern's former Minister, John Greer, who served that congregation from 1983 to 2000 before returning to his homeland, Northern Ireland, to minister at the FPC congregation in Ballymena, County Antrim, was often heard on Family Radio's "Echoes" broadcast, in addition to his own, daily, 15-minute program on Family Radio called "Let the Bible Speak". Our guest Dr. Allison was also heard many times preaching on Family Radio's "Echoes" program. FPC of Malvern later severed all ties with Family Radio, just as many other biblically sound churches and ministries did, after Harold Camping began to make public his heretical teaching that "the Church Age has ended". David Morrell, retired Vice President of Family Radio, was a member of FPC of Malvern and left the congregation along with about a dozen other members due to their loyalty to Mr. Camping's teachings. Obviously, tonight's theme is a great burden upon the heart of our guest Dr. Mark Allison.
We also highly recommend that you listen to a two part interview on the subject of Harold Camping's heresies with Mark Allison originally aired Sept. 15-16, 2010, and the two-day debate "Iron Sharpens Iron" aired between Harold Camping and Dr. James R. White of Alpha & Omega Ministries in July of 2009, followed by three days of debate review provided by Mr. Camping, Dr. White and Christian blogger "Turretin Fan".

Kenneth R. Samples: Does Harold Camping Meet the Criteria for Being a Cult Leader?
.MP3 Available Here
Kenneth R. Samples, former co-host of "The Bible Answer Man" broadcast and Senior Research Scholar at Reasons To Believe, will address the theme: "Does Harold Camping Meet the Criteria for Being a Cult Leader?"
As many of you know, Harold Camping, founder & president of Family Radio, proclaimed that the Bible guaranteed Judgment Day would begin last Saturday, May 21st at 6pm. Obviously his prediction failed. Mr. Camping is also well known for his heretical teaching that Christ is now the enemy of the church and all truly faithful Christians must flee from it, leaving Mr. Camping and his colleagues at Family Radio as their sole source of spiritual guidance. Tonight we will discuss the question of whether or not Mr. Camping's teachings warrant that he be deemed an actual cult leader.
Kenneth Samples switched from pursuing a career in professional baseball to voraciously studying Christian philosophy and theology when his thirst for purpose found relief in the Bible. He earned his undergraduate degree in philosophy and social science from Concordia University and his M.A. in theological studies from Talbot School of Theology . For seven years, Kenneth worked as Senior Research Consultant and Correspondence Editor at the Christian Research Institute (CRI) and regularly co-hosted popular call-in radio program, The Bible Answer Man, with Dr.Walter Martin and Hank Hanegraaff.
As a youth, Kenneth wrestled with "unsettling feelings of meaninglessness and boredom," driving him to seek answers to life’s "big questions." An encounter with Christian philosophy in Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis led Kenneth to examine the New Testament and "finally believe that Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God, the Lord and Savior of the world." From then on, he pursued an intellectually satisfying faith.
Today, as senior research scholar at Reasons To Believe (RTB), Kenneth uses his knowledge to help others find the answers to life's questions. He encourages believers to develop a logically defensible faith and challenges skeptics to engage Christianity at a philosophical level. He is the author of "Without a Doubt" and "A World of Difference", and has contributed to numerous other books, including: "Lights in the Sky & Little Green Men", "The Cult of the Virgin", and "Prophets of the Apocalypse". He has written articles for "Christianity Today" and "The Christian Research Journal", and regularly participates in RTB's weekly live webcast, "Creation Update".
An avid speaker and debater, Kenneth has appeared on numerous radio programs such as "Religion on the Line", "Voice America Radio", "Newsmakers", "Talk New York", and "Issues Etc", as well as participated in debates and dialogues on topics relating to Christian doctrine and apologetics. He currently lectures for the Master of Arts program in Christian Apologetics at Biola University . Kenneth also teaches adult classes at Christ Reformed Church in Southern California .
Over the years Kenneth has held memberships in the American Philosophical Association, the Evangelical Philosophical Society, the Evangelical Theological Society, and the Evangelical Press Association.

TurretinFan: Answering Popular Roman Catholic Arguments Against Sola Scriptura (Part Three)
.MP3 Available Here
"TurretinFan" (a pseudonym used in order to separate his secular career from his apologetics ministry), a contributor to Dr. James R. White's blog on the Alpha & Omega Ministries web site (http://www.aomin.org/), will address: "PART 3: Answering Popular Roman Catholic Arguments Against Sola Scriptura".
Sola Scriptura is one of the battle cries of the 16th century Protestant Reformation that is most vociferously opposed as heretical by Roman Catholic apologists. This Latin phrase meaning "Scripture Alone", in reference to the Reformers' protest against the unbiblical and antibiblical teachings of the Roman Catholic Magisterium, declared that Scripture is the *sole* infallible, inerrant authority over the church.
Tonight our guest "TurretinFan" will respond to the most popular Roman Catholic arguments against this vital pillar of the Reformation.

.MP3 Available Here
James R. White, founder & director of Alpha & Omega Ministries, a theologically Reformed Christian apologetics ministry based in Phoenix, AZ, will address the theme: "Will the World End This Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 6pm?: An Examination of the False Prophet Harold Camping."
According to Harold Camping and his colleagues at Family Radio:
"THE END OF THE WORLD IS ALMOST HERE!
HOLY GOD WILL BRING JUDGMENT DAY ON
MAY 21, 2011
"JUDGMENT DAY is feared by the world and is the day that God will destroy the world because of the sins of mankind. The world is correct in believing that Judgment Day will come. The Bible gives us the correct and accurate information about that Day..."
Tonight our guest Dr. James R. White will examine this claim, and the one making this prediction, the false prophet Harold Camping.

John Thornbury: David Brainerd: Pioneer Missionary to the American Indians
.MP3 Available Here
John Thornbury, Baptist historian and author, will address the theme: "David Brainerd: Pioneer Missionary to the American Indians".
"David Brainerd (1718-1747), a missionary to the American Indians, has become one of the most influential missionaries of all time. His personal ministry lasted only three years, but his journal and diary, edited and published by Jonathan Edwards, have inspired countless missionaries over the years to reach thousands, or even millions, of souls across the globe. His life was not an easy one; in fact, he suffered hardships of many kinds. It was for enduring these difficulties in order to further the gospel of Christ that he has gained such respect and had such a far-reaching effect. He life is worthy of study for anyone who desires to have a impact with their life on the growth of the Kingdom of God..." -- Jeremy D. Lantz
John Thornbury's books include "God Sent Revival: The Story of Asahel Nettleton and the Second Great Awakening", "A System of Bible Doctrine", "Five Pioneer Missionaries", "David Brainerd - Pioneer Missionary to the American Indians", "The Doctrine of the Church: A Baptist View", "Help Us to Pray", and "A Pastor in New York: The Life and Times of Spencer Houghton Cone" (see this link).
For 44 years John faithfully served as pastor of the historic Winfield Baptist Church in Pennsylvania (see http://www.winfieldbaptist.com/ ), until his very recent retirement and move to Kentucky

Jon Cardwell: "Christian Behavior" in modern English, will address the theme of this work by John Bunyan
.MP3 Available Here
Jon Cardwell, Editor of John Bunyan's "Christian Behavior" in modern English, will address the theme of this work by John Bunyan.
John Bunyan was born in Elstow, England, near Bedford, on November 28, 1628. After squandering much of his life away in worldly wantonness, Bunyan was converted to the Christian faith and soon afterward, became an excellent expositor of the Holy Scriptures. During the reign of Charles II, he was imprisoned in November 1660 for the crime of preaching without a license from the state church, a violation of anit-Puritan "Clarendon Code." John Bunyan is considered one of the greatest of the Puritan writers and is most noted for his alegorical classic, THE PILGRIM'S PROGRESS.
The treatise we are addressing tonight, "Christian Behavior", was written in 1663 during John Bunyan's incarceration in the Bedford prison and it was first published as a pocket edition in 1674 after his release from prison. Noted in his own "Epistle to the Reader," Mr. Bunyan's desire for Christians to have a pocket reader of very practical Christianity is, perhaps, something quite needed for Christians today. Among his contemporaries, and even among those following him, were very devout and pious men of God, who had written "Bodies" of practical divinity or practical Christianity that were hundreds, even thousands, of pages long. This splendid work is concise, yet full of practical, Biblical wisdom. Our edition of this work, as well as the editor's advertisement, come from a three volume collection edited by George Offor, Esq., and entitled, The Whole Works of John Bunyan. George Offor's edition of Bunyan's works was published in Glasgow in 1862.
Our guest ton, Jon Cardwell, has served the Lord as a missionary to the Philippines, as a pastor in California, and as a missionary-pastor in remote "bush" Alaska, to the Aleut people of King Cove and to the Yup'ik people of Scammon Bay. He has been ministering as pastor of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama since January 2009.

David Vandrunen: Bioethics & the Christian Life: A Guide to Making Difficult Decisions
.MP3 Available Here
David Vandrunen, Robert B. Strimple associate professor of systematic theology and Christian ethics, Westminster Seminary California, Escondido, California, will address the theme of his book "Bioethics & the Christian Life: A Guide to Making Difficult Decisions".
Just about everyone will face a difficult bioethics decision at some point. In this book a theologian, ethicist, and lawyer equips Christians to make such decisions based on biblical truth, wisdom, and virtue.
Though a relatively new discipline, bioethics has generated extraordinary interest due to a number of socially pressing issues. Bioethics and the Christian Life places bioethics within the holistic context of the Christian life, both developing a general Christian approach to making bioethics decisions and addressing a number of specific, controversial areas of bioethics.
Clear, concise, and well-organized, the book is divided into three sections. The first lays the theological foundation for bioethics decision-making and discusses the importance of wisdom and virtue in working through these issues. The second section addresses beginning-of-life issues, such as abortion, stem-cell research, and infertility treatments. The third section covers end-of-life issues, such as living wills, accepting and refusing medical treatment, and treatment of patients in permanent vegetative states.

The second section addresses beginning-of-life issues, such as abortion, stem-cell research, and infertility treatments. The third section covers end-of-life issues, such as living wills, accepting and refusing medical treatment, and treatment of patients in permanent vegetative states.

Jeffrey D. Johnson: Behind the Bible: An Introduction to Textual Criticism
.MP3 Available Here
Jeffrey D. Johnson, pastor of Grace Bible Church in Conway, Arkansas, will address the theme of his new book "Behind the Bible: An Introduction to Textual Criticism".
Many scholars who reject the inspiration, reliability and inerrancy of the Scriptures, like Bart Ehrman, believe that if God had put forth the effort to inspire the words of the Bible, then he would have surely preserved those words. According to Ehrman, God simply would not have allowed any textual variation to exist in the transmission of the New Testament if He had inspired it in the first place. Tonight our guest, Jeffrey D. Johnson, will demonstrate that one who holds to the highest view of Scripture and its inspiration can look at the very same data and still present a strong, compelling case for the preservation of the text of Scripture over time.
Specifically, Jeffrey will discuss the different reasons for textual variations in the New Testament, including variations brought by time and variations brought by translation. He will also address the objective criteria and subjectivity used in dating ancient manuscripts and the methods of textual criticism, and will provide an overview of the history of the Greek text.
"Jeffrey D. Johnson has provided a helpful and clear discussion of the key issues behind the "whys" and "wherefores" of how we got our New Testament text. In light of the frontal assaults upon the integrity of the text of the New Testament pervasive in our day, it is important for believers to have a knowledge of these matters, and Johnson's work is a useful addition to the introductions available on the subject."
