Tom Nettles: The Calvinist History of Baptists & the Present Controversy over the Doctrines of Grace (Part 2)
MP3 Available Here
According to the author's preface:
"Tom Nettles' book By His Grace and For His Glory is a landmark study. Bringing together the disciplines of the school, the concerns of the preacher and the heart of a Christian, Nettles effectively reminds Baptists of our own day what so many before us believed to be the gospel."
Dr. Mark Dever
Pastor, Capitol Hill Baptist Church
Washington, DC
"Twenty years after its first appearance, Tom Nettles' book remains an important work for modern Baptists. His major historical thesis-that the doctrines of grace formed a theological consensus among Baptists in the Southern states for the mid-nineteenth century into the first quarter of the twentieth century-has not seriously been engaged, much less refuted, by detractors and others who are less than thrilled by this doctrinal heritage. This book is essential reading for anyone who wants to be honest when assessing historical Southern Baptist theology."
Dr. Tom Ascol
Pastor of Grace Baptist Church
Cape Coral, FL
Tom Nettles is a graduate of Mississippi College (BA) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv and PhD). He is widely regarded as one of the foremost Baptist historical theologians in America. He previously taught at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, where he was Professor of Church History and Chair of the Department of Church History. Since 1997 he has served as Professor of Historical Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Anthony Bradley: "Liberating Black Theology: The Bible & the Black Experience in America
MP3 Available Here
Dr. Anthony Bradley, visiting professor of theology at The King’s College in New York City and a research fellow at the Acton Institute, will address the theme of his latest, controversial book: "Liberating Black Theology: The Bible & the Black Experience in America".
Here's what some are saying about Dr. Bradley's new book:
“Anthony Bradley’s analysis of black liberation theology is by far the best thing that I have read on the subject. Anthony’s book is comprehensive, and in depth. He covers all of the bases, and thereby provides the reader with all of the information that he needs to understand the critical issues involved with black liberation theology. By covering such figures as James Cone, Cornell West and Jeremiah Wright we see all of the nuances involved with their approaches to the subject. His explanation of victimology, Marxism, and aberrant Christian doctrine make a noxious mix of ideas that would make any true Christian wary of anything even approaching black liberation theology. His keen insight into these ideas and his clarity of writing make this book a jewel. Anthony has done the Christian community a great service by writing this book. The was a significant need for a work of this type and its arrival is long over due.”
—Craig Vincent Mitchell, Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
“I have read a number of books which purport to explain, define, or critique black liberation theology, but Liberating Black Theology is the easiest to understand. This is because Dr. Bradley unapologetically maintains a biblically, orthodox perspective while being sympathetic to the issues and concerns of black liberation theologians. The book should be required reading for seminary students and pastors interested in understanding the history and struggles of the black church in America. Liberating Black Theology needs to be on the list of required reading in any seminary class on biblical interpretation.”
—Wy Plummer, African American Ministries Coordinator, Mission to North America, Presbyterian Church in America
“With irenic tone Bradley reveals the theological justification of racial separation inherent within the victimization philosophy of both 1G and 2G Black Theology. His analysis demonstrates how the vision of Cone and his intellectual offspring contributes to rather than resolves DuBois’ problem of the twentieth (now twenty-first!) century.”
—Eric C. Redmond, Senior Pastor, Reformation Alive Baptist Church, and Assistant Professor of Bible and Theology, Washington Bible College, Lanham, MD
As a research fellow, Dr. Bradley lectures at colleges, universities, business organizations, conferences, and churches throughout the U.S. and abroad. His writings on religious and cultural issues have been published in a variety of journals, including: the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Detroit News, and World Magazine. Dr. Bradley is called upon by members of the broadcast media for comment on current issues and has appeared on NPR, CNN/Headline News, Fox News and Court TV Radio, among others. He studies and writes on issues of race in America, hip hop, youth culture, issues among African Americans, the American family, welfare, education, and modern international forms of social injustice, slavery, and oppression. His dissertation explores the intersection of black liberation theology and economics. From 2005-2009, Dr. Bradley was Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology and Ethics at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO where he also directed the Francis A. Schaeffer Institute.
Dr. Bradley holds Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from Clemson University, a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Westminster Theological Seminary. His personal web site is http://www.dranthonybradley.com/.

Eric Redmond: Straight Answers to Men's Questions About the Church
MP3 Available Here
ERIC C. REDMOND, author, sought-after theologically Reformed conference speaker and founding pastor of Reformation Alive Baptist Church in Temple Hills, MD, will address the theme:"Straight Answers to Men's Questions About the Church".
We will also be promoting Pastor Redmond's upcoming speaking engagement at the Third Annual Iron Sharpens Iron Pastors' Luncheon on Thursday, January 28th at the Swan Club in Roslyn, NY (see details at the bottom of the page).
Pastor Redmond's book, "Where Are All The Brothers?: Straight Answers to Men's Questions About the Church", is one of his attempts to help strong men give Christ a second look by addressing some of their modern day concerns. He also contributed to "Glory Road: The Journeys of 10 African-Americans into Reformed Christianity".
Pastor Redmond served as the Second Vice-President of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2007 to 2008, and has served as the Theology Editor for "NAAF Outlook: Newsletter of the African American Fellowship of the SBC". He has also served on the Trustee Board of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary . He is a gifted expository preacher and teacher of God's Word. A graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary , his passion is to see lives transformed by growing in love and understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Pastor Redmond’s ministry emphasis lies in expositional preaching and teaching of the Scriptures, development of godly male leadership, and the cultivation of Biblical community within the local church. He has a burden to encourage academic theological studies at research levels among young African-American church leaders, and to see the rearing and sending of African-Americans into international missions work.
Currently, Pastor Redmond also serves as an Assistant Professor of Bible & Theology at Washington Bible College in Lanham MD . He feels a burden to reach all generations for Christ, so that a generation yet unborn might be raised up to know and love God. On his blog, "A Man from Issachar", Pastor Redmond again attempts to point his readers to Christ through an examination of current events.
Pastor Redmond and his wife Pam will have been very happily married for almost 20 years. They have five children – Charis (18), Chloe (16), Candace (12), Calvin (10), and Codell (9) – and they reside in Lanham, Maryland. The heart of the Redmond’s ministry partnership is strengthening families.
A controversial and refreshingly honest article by Pastor Redmond that is highly recommended, "Living Soli Deo Gloria Under Obama", may be read here.

David Sitton: Ministering in Lands Under Satanic Oppression
MP3 Available Here
David Sitton, President of To Every Tribe Ministries, will address the theme: " Ministering in Lands Under Satanic Oppression".
The vision of To Every Tribe Ministries is to bring the gospel to those hard-to-get-to places where the name of Jesus has never been heard so God will be worshiped by every tribe, and tongue.
In January, 1977, our guest David Sitton arrived at The School of World Evangelism in College Station, Texas.
Within weeks, David encountered a radical pioneer missionary to Papua New Guinea, Joe Cannon. Joe was on a mission; He was looking for young missionaries to join him on the unreached front lines of New Guinea.
Sauntering into the classroom with bows, arrows, spears, and bird feather head dresses jutting out from his hands and the Melanesian Pidgin language spouting out of his mouth. Joe was tall, lanky and loud. He bounced when he walked and was quick to laugh at his own (corny) jokes. He was eager to give the students a little taste of New Guinea culture and language. Joe proceeded to give a passionate plea that some of the students would turn their attention to the unreached, interior tribes of Papua New Guinea.
Between classes, one afternoon, Joe cornered David with a text and a question.
The text was Romans 15:20.
“I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, ‘Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”
The question was personal and to the point! “Brother, there are whole tribes of people in New Guinea that have never, ever heard the name of Jesus. Some of them are cannibals and headhunters; some of them have bones through their noses and wear grass skirts. Many of them are wild and reckless and dangerous people. But they need the gospel of Christ!”
“Come with me, brother. I will teach you. I can mentor you. There are not many who will go with me into the jungles and rugged mountains to find them. Come with me, brother. Let’s go get some of them for Jesus.”
David’s life was set on a course for mission from that moment.
Eight months later, just one week after his 20th birthday, David left for Papua New Guinea – October 3, 1977. He departed Corpus Christi with a suitcase, a bible, and a surfboard!
Several of the early tribes David encountered did indeed practice cannibalism and were entrenched in violent tribal warfare. Even so, Joe and David (and a few others) endured much hardship to get the gospel established among these remote mountain tribes. Churches still remain in most of these places today.
In 1979, David returned to Texas. God was gracious and quick with his answer to David’s prayer for a wife! Within months he met, courted and married (June 27, 1980) Tommi Anne Moses from Harlingen, Texas. Theirs was the first wedding ever performed at the Chapel By The Sea on South Padre Island.
Over the next decade, David and Tommi worked together to make disciples and plant churches in remote regions of the highlands and swamplands of Papua New Guinea. A government problem with visa renewals in 1990 prevented the Sittons from returning to PNG to live.
From 1990 -1993, David served as director of The Institute of Tribal Studies, a ministry of the U.S. Center for World Mission located in Pasadena, CA. In 1993, David and Tommi relocated to the South Texas town of Los Fresnos, strategically situated just fifteen minutes from the Mexican border.
34 churches have been established through this ministry since 1977.
These days, David continues church-planting and leadership training in Papua New Guinea through regular short-term ministry trips and travels extensively speaking at many churches and mission conferences around the world. A prominent theme in his preaching is that fame of Jesus’ Name will be brought to the remaining unreached peoples through the persecution and frequent martyrdom of those that carry the gospel message.
David and Tommi founded To Every Tribe Ministries where he currently serves as president. They also founded The Center for Pioneer Church Planting, which began in January, 2006. This missionary training program is dedicated to recruiting, training and launching pioneer church planters into the far-flung regions where Christ is still unknown.
Moreover, Tommi is a precious helpmate to David. All who know Tommi recognize her sacrificial service to the To Every Tribe community and her invaluable encouragement and assistance in nearly every aspect of the ministry.

Leslie Wagner-Wilson: The Jonestown Suicide-Massacre: A Survivor's Testimony (Part Two)
MP3 Available Here
Wednesday, November 18, 2009 marked the 31st anniversary of the "Jonestown Suicide-Massacre" in a remote jungle settlement in Guyana, South America. 918 United States citizens died that day. An estimated 93% of those who died were African American. Before September 11, 2001, it was the largest number of American civilian lives lost in a single event . This included United States Congressman Leo Ryan and his entourage. His assassination marked the first and only murder of a U.S. Congressman in the history of the United States.
After surviving sixteen months in the armed jungle compound and through daily prayer amongst a world of madness, our guest Leslie Wagner-Wilson, then twenty one years old, escaped Jonestown walking thirty odd miles through the jungle along with nine other members of the cult on the morning of November 18, 1978. Strapped to her back was a 40-pound care package - her son, later to be known as the youngest survivor of Jonestown. After reaching a small outpost that night, she would be told that Congressman Leo Ryan and four of his entourage had been assassinated along with a Temple defector. Within the next two days she would be told that all of the residents of Jonestown had died, including her husband, mother, brother, sister, niece, nephew, sister in law, brother in law and friends she had grown up and loved since 13.
Since Jonestown, Slavery of Faith also chronicles Leslie's return to the U.S. under a veil of secrecy in fear of the “death squads”, her fight to maintain faith in her darkest hours; suffering Post Traumatic Stress, survivors’ guilt, drug addiction, a family suicide, redemption and finally forgiveness. All the while holding on to the only thing she knew was true-God. It shares her journey through psychological and spiritual jungles to reach a place of remembrance—- to “live their love and not their deaths.” You can hear Part One of our "Iron Sharpens Iron" interview with Leslie which originally aired on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 . This mp3 is a back up copy of the show before Internet recording became availabe. Our apologies for the sound quality.

Part One: Warren Cole Smith / Part Two: Steve Camp
For the first half of tonight's broadcast, Warren Cole Smith, publisher and editor of the Evangelical Press News Service , author of "A Lover's Quarrel with the Evangelical Church" and the new Associate Publisher of "World Magazine" (see www.WorldMag.com) will address the theme: : "WORLD Magazine's Annual Row v. Wade Issue Highlights New Trends in Pro-Life Movement".
Among the topics to be covered:
· · The Pregnancy Care Center Movement. In 1973, when the Roe decision took place, there were almost no pregnancy care centers in the United States. Today, more than 800 pro-life pregnancy care centers dot the United States. The story of this movement – and the millions of women and children they’ve helped – is one of the great untold stories of our time. TK rights that wrong by chronicling this significant social movement.
· Adoption Friendly Churches. Some have argued that churches – afraid of political activism – were slow to enter the pro-life movement. Today, they’re making up for lost ground. Evangelical churches all across America are supporting their members spiritually, emotionally, and financially in the adoption process. TK profiles some of these adoption friendly churches.
For the second half of tonight's broadcast Steve Camp, well known Christian recording artist, writer of a Grammy Award-winning song, theologically Reformed Christian apologist, founder of audienceONE Ministries and pastor of the Cross Church in Palm City, Florida, will address the theme: "Christian Hope Admidst Grief: The Peace Found in 1 Thes. 4:13-18."
"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
"For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
"Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
"Therefore comfort one another with these words..."

Kamal Saleem: The Blood of Lambs- A Former Terrorist's Memoir of Death & Redemption
MP3 Available Here
Kamal Saleem, a former PLO terrorist saved by the grace & mercy of Jesus Christ, will address the theme of his provocative new book: "The Blood of Lambs: A Former Terrorist's Memoir of Death & Redemption".
Kamal is speaking this Sunday, January 10th at 11AM at Faith Tabernacle Church of God, 529 Sunrise Highway, West Babylon, Long Island, NY. For details call (631)661-1833.
Here is what some prominent figures are saying about Kamal and his new book:
“Kamal Saleem is a courageous man. In The Blood of Lambs, he chronicles his incredible life as an Islamic terrorist and gives readers an inside look at the cruel world of terrorism and the threat it poses to democracy. Kamal’s riveting story is a must read. Thanks, Kamal, for telling the world
the truth about terrorism and your new life of faith.”--- LTG (Ret.) William G. Boykin, Former Commander of U.S. Army Special Forces & Founding Member of Delta Force (see http://www.jerryboykin.com/, http://kingdomwarriors.net/ & http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/15/60II/main643650.shtml)
“Many Americans are oblivious to the threat that exists within our own borders from radical jihadists. By highlighting some of the motivations and tactics used by our enemies, this book will serve as a clarion call for the great struggle that America will face for many years to come.”--- Major Bentley Rayburn, USAF (Ret.), former Commandant of the Air War College (see http://www.af.mil/information/bios/bio.asp?bioID=6857)
“The Blood of Lambs is a book that all Americans who love truth and freedom should read. Using guile, patience, intimidation, and violence, Islamic fundamentalists are trying to replace the U.S. Constitution with Sharia Islamic law. Kamal is one of the few brave former terrorists telling the truths that most wish to close their eyes and ears to. I commend Kamal in his work to wake up America.”--- Walid Shoebat, Former Islamic terrorist, speaker & author of "Why I Left Jihad & Why We Want to Kill You" (see http://www.shoebat.com/)
“Kamal Saleem was a highly trained, efficient killer—a dedicated Islamic terrorist who wanted to see America and Israel destroyed. But today, he is risking his life by telling his secrets and laying his life bare. Kamal is now a professed Christian, trying to live a normal, American life. He has grown to love his adopted country and wants to see it protected from radical Islam. You have never read a book like The Blood of Lambs. Kamal is one of the boldest and most courageous men that I have ever met. He has a message that you need to hear.”--- James Fitzgerald, Jr., Producer, Coldwater Media, Inc. (see http://www.coldwatermedia.com/)
From our guest Kamal Saleem's web site:
Born in 1957 into a large Sunni Muslim Lebanese family in the heart of the Middle East, Kamal Saleem was breastfed Islamic radicalism by his mother, and taught to hate Jews and Christians by his father. His cousin was the Grand Mufti of Beirut. Recruited by the Muslim Brotherhood for jihadi militancy as a small child, he completed his first bloody terror mission into Israel for the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) at the age of seven.
Like a star U.S. college football running back, Kamal ran important terror operations as a young man in the service of Yassir Arafat, under the coaching Abu Yussif and Abu Zayed (PLO/Fatah). He has worked for, and dined with, Muhamar Kaddafi (dictator of Libya). He has “carried the ball” for Baath Party leaders and military attaches of Saddam Hussein (dictator of Iraq) and Hafez al Assad (dictator of Syria), for Saudi Arabian sheikhs and princes, and for Abdul Rahman (Muslim Brotherhood). Kamal Saleem fought with the Afghan Mujahadeen for victory against the Soviets… before he and his patrons turned their attention to the destruction of the West – and Western freedoms – through Islamicization. Above all, Kamal thirsted for jihadic death to America.
He was well prepared: After mastering every form of offensive and defensive terror tactic, Kamal Saleem slipped into Europe and then the United States to make Islamic converts -- and to radicalize them, along with assimilated Muslims, into vicious intolerance. He aimed to glorify Allah through “hot war” terror cells as well as the “cold war” tactics of demographic and cultural jihad – ironically exploiting First Amendment liberties to gut American freedoms of religion, speech, and the press. In his riveting memoir, The Blood of Lambs (2009, Howard/Simon & Schuster), Kamal writes of his childhood:
The teaching at mosque was like the teaching at my mother’s kitchen table, only full flower. True Muslims, the imams said, were to complete the conquest Muhammad had begun, to establish a global caliphate, or world dominance…[A devout Muslims should] become a missionary zealot [and] do the world a favor and rip it from its sin and lust and idolatry, whether by conversion or death….we learned Allah would some day judge us….we learned the doctrine of al toquiah, or lying to our enemies for the sake of Islam. And we learned that all our enemy’s property – his women, his children, his money, his house – belonged to us. We were to sleep with the enemy’s women and populate the world with faithful Muslim children. “No army should be more powerful than the army of Allah!” one imam or another would shout from the pulpit, sometimes brandishing a stick or a sword. “No nation should be richer than a Muslim nation….you must call for Shariah law!”… I did not know the word theocracy then, but that is what the imams meant. In response, we shouted the slogan of the Muslim Brotherhood: “Allah is our objective! The Prophet is our leader! The Koran is our law! Jihad is our way! Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope!” …. We hated the Jews, of course….we knew that if it were not for America, Israel would not exist…. The truth was that most Muslims saw the Palestinians as a scrubby little minority group, a burden on the rest of us. But their cause gave the Muslim fascists a reason to bark at America.
As a function of a near-fatal auto accident in that very nation, however, Kamal Saleem for the first time confronted what might be called the very best of the Judeo-Christian ethic: Rescued from the wreckage and nursed back to health by devout Christians, he defected entirely from Islamic militancy -- as well as Islam itself. Like Ayaan Hirsi Ali of Somalia and the Netherlands, Kamal became an “apostate,” marked for death; there is no safe exit from Islam – especially for a high-ranking operative of the Muslim Brotherhood, PLO and international Islamist terror.
Kamal Saleem eventually married an American Christian woman. It was not until well after the devastations of 9/11, however, that he “came out of the closet” to reveal his dark past to his wife, Victoria, and begin a dangerous, politically-incorrect, yet peaceful public “crusade”: Today, Kamal aims to alert Israelis, Europeans, Americans – Jews, Christians, Muslim moderates, agnostics, seculars, feminists, gays, journalists, artists and average citizens – of the absolutely determined, genocidal forces working feverishly, even now, to destroy them, global human rights, and Western liberty itself. Out of near- absolute, realpolitik certainty that a sovereign and armed Islamic state in Judea and Samaria would yield the destruction of the State of Israel, Kamal Saleem today seeks to boldly warn Israeli and American leaders and citizens against the siren song of a “Two-State Solution.” He also argues for U.S. fortitude regarding Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, where nuclear capabilities are within reach of Holocaust-denying – yet Holocaust-approving – Islamo-fascists.
Today, Kamal Saleem educates state and federal political leaders, military leaders, intelligence specialists, security officials and contractors, law enforcement agencies, foundations, non-profits, churches, synagogues, universities, military academies and receptive Muslim audiences on what he knows of the deadly enemy without – and the cancerous enemy within. He loves all his brothers and sisters of Muslim descent – but hates violent, intolerant Islasmism with a passion. Just as good souls in World War II might have loved the German people while hating the murderous, anti-Semitic system of Nazism that engulfed them, so Kamal Saleem courageously calls upon all Muslims to reject the engulfing, toxic system of Islamist hatred.
What explains such a personal change? Can it somehow be exploited to defend the West in what scholars Samuel Huntington and Bernard Lewis have called “the Clash of Civilizations”? Today, Kamal Saleem and millions of ex-Islamists indeed embrace the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Jesus and all those of Muslim descent who crave peace: Y-hw-h of the Torah, Tanakh and Bible – not the Islamist’s “Allah,” who like Baal and other pagan “gods” demands the degradation of women and the bloody sacrifice of one’s own children, in exchange for Paradise and 70 attentive virgins.
Like traditional Jews as well as their Christian offspring for centuries, Kamal rejects the Islamist (and sometimes, secular) concept of a worldwide “House of Peace” brought about by forced conversions, fascist militancy, and totalitarian coercion and control. With devout Jews, Catholics and Protestants worldwide and throughout Western history, Kamal Saleem today believes that ultimate “Peace on Earth” comes through a Davidic, Messianic Age brought about by Heaven, not through violent human machinations. In the meantime, Kamal argues that First Amendment freedoms in America and analogues among its Western allies – as well as the very lives of their free citizens – are in grave jeopardy: A fast-expanding fifth of the world – 1.5 billion people – are Muslim, and a growing percentage of them, perhaps 15%, favor Islamist objectives of violence, WMD’s, Shariah, demographic/cultural jihad… and death or enslavement for unbelievers.
Kamal Saleem argues that realists must act now, with courageous determination, to run effective offense against the Islamists who would destroy or enslave us all – from Kandahar to Karachi, from Islamabad to Teheran, from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, from London to Madrid to Mumbai, and from New York and Washington to Chicago and L.A. As a function of his own story, Kamal Saleem argues for one largely overlooked “psy-ops” weapon in the battle for Muslim hearts and minds, and for the very survival of the West: The calculated, methodical deployment by capital of courageous “missionaries” entirely unrestricted, at a personal level, in the use of Jewish and Christian moral suasion in humanitarian, military, security and civil roles among Muslim populations within the Islamic world – and in European and American cities and universities: The USA simply cannot defeat confident Islamist ideology and asymmetric tactics with multiculturalists platitudes.
A gifted, passionate communicator (click here for a sample) Kamal Saleem has shared his intimate knowledge of Islamist tactics and conquest plans with audiences at Berkeley, Michigan, and in the Ivy League; in synagogues, mega-churches, foundations, and the United Jewish Appeal (Aspen); on major U.S. media and talk shows; and with U.S. military leaders, security agents, the U.S. Air Force Academy, private contractors, and law enforcement specialists.

David & Jim Sitton: A Killer Caught: An Update on the Sitton Family Thanksgiving Day Murders (And a Christian Response to Unspeakable Tragedy)
MP3 Available Here
David Sitton, President of To Every Tribe Ministries , and his brother Jim Sitton, father of a murdered 6-year-old-girl, will address the theme: "A Killer Caught: An Update on the Sitton Family Thanksgiving Day Murders (And a Christian Response to Unspeakable Tragedy)".
On Tuesday, December 29, "Iron Sharpens Iron" aired an interview with David & Jim Sitton regarding this tragic story posted on the "America's Most Wanted" web site:
On Thanksgiving Day, extended family gathered in one Jupiter [Florida]home to celebrate, spend time with relatives, and enjoy the holiday. Of the 17 family members in the house, one was 35-year-old Paul Michael Merhige. The day appeared to be going fine, until the evening hours.
Cops say at some point, Merhige excused himself and walked out to his 2007 Toyota Camry. When he returned, they say he opened fire on his unsuspecting family.
Cops tell America's Most Wanted that Merhige targeted his twin sisters.
After shooting them, cops say he turned his attention to a 76-year-old aunt before his final act of cowardice.
Witnesses told cops that Merhige then shot and killed his final victim, a 6-year-old girl.
When the carnage was done, Carla Merhige and her twin sister Lisa Knight lay dead, along with Merhige's aunt, Raymonde Joseph, and his 6-year-old cousin, Makayla Sitton.
Cops say Merhige then fled in his car, which has not been found.
UPDATE:
AMW Capture #1099 AMW Tipster Brings Down Thanksgiving Day KillerOn the night of Jan. 2, a tipster called the AMW hotline with information that would lead to AMW Direct Result Capture #1099.
The tipster told our hotline operator that a man fitting the description of accused killer Paul Merhige was staying at a hotel in Long Key, Fla. The man had checked into the hotel under a false name in early December, and had pre-paid for a two-week stay in cash.
The tipster had seen coverage on the Merhige story and knew he was being profiled on AMW. She was certain she'd seen him earlier that evening at the hotel. Hours after the call, Merhige was in custody.
On Jan. 5, Jim and Muriel Sitton, the parents of 6-year-old Makayla Sitton -- one of the four victims -- met with John Walsh before talking to the media after Merhige's arrest. At the press conference, they talked about the tipster’s courage, the cooperation of law enforcement and what Merhige’s capture means for their family’s pursuit of justice.
When the AMW hotline received the call, the tipster said a car resembling the Toyota Camry Merhige was believed to be driving was in their hotel parking lot underneath a car cover at that very moment.
In the name of justice, the tipster courageously went out of her way to lift up the tarp and find out the license plate number, knowing full well Merhige was holed up inside his hotel room. Had he emerged and spotted her, her life could have been in great danger.
According to Walsh, the tipster “knew this guy was alleged to have murdered four people and that he had plenty of guns in that room. … He could make them pay for doing what they did.”
But that didn’t stop the tipster from picking up the phone.
“They were smart enough to make the connection,” Jim Sitton said. “They were brave enough to go lift the tarp and get the tag number, and in this day and age, they made the call.”
Authorities ran the plates and found that they did not match Merhige’s vehicle. However, the plates were previously registered to a car owned by Merhige's father.
Based on the crucial bit of information received in the tip, police believed they had enough probable cause to move in on their target.
“Once they made the call, the U.S. Marshals took over and made the capture,” Sitton said.
When police arrived at the hotel, they saw lights on in the room where they believed Merhige was staying. Despite Merhige's barricade, the Marshals and Jupiter police busted through and took Merhige into custody, much to his surprise.
Large-Scale Cooperation Puts Fugitive Behind Bars
Merhige’s capture never could have taken place without a vast network of enterprises and agencies working together.
“I want to thank the Jupiter Police Department and Chief Kitzerow for never giving up on this case,” Walsh said. “This is the way it’s supposed to work. This is the partnership between law enforcement, the media, our television show and two loving, caring parents who never gave up searching. They wanted justice; they needed justice for themselves.”
His arrest is only the first part in filling the void felt by the victims' families.
“The monster is in a cage. Now we can get out of protective mode, and we can begin the process of healing,“ Sitton said.
Makayla’s father described to the press corps the need for closure his family so desperately needs.
“This is the first step to justice. We're not seeking vengeance in this case, but we would like justice. In Florida, we have the death penalty. And if there's anyone that deserves the death penalty, it would be someone that would go and execute my 6-year-old daughter in her bedroom while she’s in bed,” Sitton said.
Walsh had a message for prosecutors taking on the Merhige case.
“He needs to be held accountable. This is a guy who knows right from wrong. He planned this assassination. He was smart enough to stay on the run. The stuff they found in his motel is just a subterfuge. He wasn’t going to kill himself. He was going to stay out there as long as he could. This man deserves the death penalty. He’s crossed that line and killed that little girl. He killed four people, including a pregnant woman. He needs to pay,” said Walsh.
His is a sentiment echoed by all those entrenched in the manhunt for Merhige.
"It's a huge relief he's off the streets," stated Juniper Police Detective Eric Frank. He added, "This capture is proof positive AMW works."
Merhige made his first appearance in court Sunday, Jan. 3, the day following his arrest. Merhige has been charged with the violent murder of four family members and the attempted murder of another.

Brad K. Gsell: The Legacy of Billy Graham: The Accommodation of Truth to Error in the Evangelical Church (Part Two)
MP3 Available Here
This discussion is important today because as we approach the day when Mr. Graham, now 91, can no longer participate in public Evangelism due to health reasons, or departs from this earth, those in power in the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association are faced with the question of who will carry the torch for this organization further into the third millennium, and whether or not Mr. Graham's flawed approach to evangelism will be championed or abandoned.
Today our guest Brad K. Gsell will document that this beloved hero of modern evangelicalism (and of Americans in general spanning religious affiliation):
- Insists that Modernists be included on Crusade Committees
- Includes Catholics and Non-Believing Jews on his Crusade Committees
- Sends converts back to Liberal Protestant & Roman Catholic Churches as well as the Synagogue
- Praised the USSR regarding its alleged support of authentically Christian Churches
- Substitutes man-made methods for God's methods
- Believes that many from non-Christian religions may enter Heaven without ever embracing Jesus Christ as Lord, God and Savior while on this earth
Some state their utter disbelief in the last statement when confronted with it, but watch and listen to this YouTube clip of Mr. Graham on Robert Schuller's "Hour of Power" program where Mr. Graham makes his position on salvation for the non-Christian quite clear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNCnxA91fHE
