THABITI ANYABWILE, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, will address the theme "THE TESTIMONY OF A MUSLIM CONVERT TO CHRISTIANITY".
Thabiti Anyabwile is a native of Lexington, North Carolina. Today he will give his remarkable testimony of being converted to Islam while a nominal Christian, and then converting to true faith in Jesus Christ. He is the happy husband of Kristie and the adoring father of two daughters, Afiya and Eden, and son, Titus. He began serving as elder/senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Grand Cayman in August 2006. He served previously as an elder/assistant pastor at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC, and as an elder at Church on the Rock in Raleigh, NC. Thabiti holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in psychology from North Carolina State University .
Thabiti is also the author of the very controversial and provocative book "The Decline of African American Theology: From Biblical Faith to Cultural Captivity", "What is a Healthy Church Member?" and "The Faithful Preacher: Recapturing the Vision of Three Pioneering African-American Pastors". He contributed chapters to "Glory Road: The Journeys of 10 African-Americans into Reformed Christianity" and "Proclaiming a Cross-centered Theology".
Thabiti was a featured speaker at Ligonier Ministries National Conference in March, 2009, where he addressed the theme: "Cosmic Treason: Sin and the Holiness of God".
