NANCY A. ALMODOVAR, author of A Modern Ninety-Five: Questions Today's Evangelicals Need To Hear and wife of Pastor Bobby Almodovar of TULIP Reformed Church in Ridgewood, Queens, NY will give her "TESTIMONY OF A FORMER 'WORD OF FAITH' HERESY ADVOCATE."
Today, Nancy will give the account of her theological journey before finally embracing the historic, biblical Gospel of the Reformation, moving from Pentecostalism, semi-Pelagianism and Arminianism, through to the Charismatic movement, along the byways of the prophetic and apostolic movements, and into the darkness of deliverance ministries, that she wandered in for 15 years. As Nancy puts it, "I ran after the newest teachings thinking that they were true but instead found myself swallowed in the mire of error and the muck of heresy."
Nancy's experiences among the aforementioned dangerous camps within Pentecostalism and the Charismatic movement led her to develop her modern ninety-five theses, couched in new terms for a new generation, which require scholarly debate once again. Through modern-day apostles and prophets, and through the elitists within the evangelical church, the doctrine of buying God's grace and favor has been propagated through appeals for seed offerings and "atonement-day" donations in order to garner God's blessings. Pragmatic approaches to preaching the gospel through such movements as the seeker-driven models have moved the focus of the message of Christ and the worship of God from being God-centered to human-centered. Sound historical doctrines, such as the Trinity, have been relegated to the sidelines in favor of unity and ecumenicalism with Oneness preachers.
Nancy and her husband also operate Silent Cry Ministries , a Reformed, Creedal, Confessional and Evangelical ministry devoted to the 5 Solas of the Reformation: Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone"), Sola fide ("by faith alone"), Sola gratia ("by grace alone"), Solus Christus ("Christ alone") and Soli Deo gloria ("glory to God alone"). That means they are Reformed in Doctrine and therefore adhere to the Biblical faith as expressed by the great reformers such as: Martin Luther, Jean Calvin, and many others whom God used to bring His Church back to the Truths of Scriptures.

I have known Roberto and Nancy for several years, just from Facebook, but I consider them both good stewards of God's Word. I recently read Nancy's "A Modern 95" and if anyone has heard of or seen videos of John McArthur's "Strange Fire" conference a year or so back, her book encompasses the topics covered in an organized, easy to understand way. Though Dr. Almodovar has the knowledge and theological vocabulary to lose the average reader in doctrinal discourse, she keeps it simple and easy to understand. "A Modern 95" makes a great resource of encouragement for those confused souls, still stuck in the Word 0f Faith movement and a good reference for those of us who really didn't realize how off track to true Christianity that movement has become. -Richard Givens
