DOUG PHILLIPS, President of Vision Forum Ministries , will address the theme: "BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR THE BALLOT BOX."
Co-hosting this broadcast is Pastor Jim Capo of the Massapequa Church of God, Massapequa, Long Island, NY.
Because Vision Forum Ministries does not endorse individual candidates, it is Doug Phillips' goal during today's interview to help our listeners to develop a distinctively biblical worldview from which they can form their own opinions. Doug's concern is not for whom you vote, as much as it is that you are faithful to God’s Word in your approach to voting. Doug firmly believes a vote is an ethical act for which the individual will be held accountable by his God.
In addition to editing and writing numerous books, Doug founded the Witherspoon School of Law and Public Policy, The Christian Boys’ & Men’s Titanic Society, the National Center for Family-Integrated Churches, the All-American Boy’s Adventure Catalog, the Beautiful Girlhood Collection catalog, and the Vision Forum Family Books and Media catalog (see http://www.visionforum.com/). Doug has appeared on numerous radio and television shows and has spoken at more than 100 home school conferences in 42 states. Along with Dr. John Morris, Doug is pleased to be the featured speaker at the Back to Genesis conferences hosted by the Institute for Creation Research, where he holds the title of Professor of Apologetics with their adjunct faculty. Doug is privileged to serve as one of the shepherds at Boerne Christian Assembly , a local church work in the San Antonio, Texas area which boldly proclaims the sufficiency of Scripture, the sovereignty of God, the continuing relevance of the entire Word of God to all of life, the priesthood of the believer, distinctively Christian education, and the importance of family-reinforcing local churches.
It is interesting to note that Doug Phillips' father, Howard Phillips, a Jewish believer in Jesus Christ and adherent of Reformed Theology, served as Acting Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity under President Richard Nixon. Howard has served as the Chairman of The Conservative Caucus , a conservative public policy advocacy group, since 1974, and is one of the founders of the U.S. Taxpayers Party (which changed its name to the Constitution Party in 1999), a third party associated with conservative, pro-life issues, and constitutional government ideas on both social and fiscal issues (see http://www.constitutionparty.com/). Howard was that party's presidential candidate in the 1992, 1996, and 2000 elections for President of the United States. His 1996 run garnered more votes than any Constitutionalist presidential candidate.
